Public Comment - Rochester School District Budget Reduction
The Rochester Public Schools School Board will hold two comments from the public sessions early next week on the Final Superintendent Budget Reduction Recommendations. Those who wish to address School Board during the Comments from the Public must adhere to the regular guidelines outlined on the District website. If you wish to address the School Board, it is recommended that you call the Superintendent’s Office at 328-4224 before 5 p.m. on Monday, February 1, 2010, and noon on Tuesday, February 2, 2010. You will be asked to provide your name and home address as well as the topic of your comments. Walk-ins are welcome but there may not be time to hear from everyone in the time allotted. Please limit comments to three to five (3-5) minutes. Written statements may be distributed to School Board members. Groups wishing to address the Board should do so through a single speaker and may be asked to do so if there are several speakers on a given night.

Intermediate Acting Skills, Words Players - Starts Today!
Intermediate Acting Skills, ages 10 - 13. Feb. 2 - March 27. Tuesdays, 4:30 - 6pm. Intended for students who have completed the introduction class or have some stage experience and would like to build on the fundamentals towards more polished performance and in-depth characterization. This class will continue with advanced improvisation and technique exercises as well as movement and voice; character development; acting collaboratively; and taking direction. Suggested donation: $75. Rather than established fees, donation amounts are suggested. This is to make sure that children are not precluded from participation for financial reasons. Divorce Care for Kids
Divorce Care for Kids,(DC4K), a program for children (ages 5-12) of families experiencing separation or divorce, will be held on Tuesday evenings at Christ Community Church January 19 through March 23 at 6:00PM.

DC4K features 10 weeks of discussions, activities and fun games along with DVD dramas about real-life situations of children in divorce. It points children to faith in the bible and Jesus Christ as their source of healing from the hurts of divorce. A Divorce Care program for adults is also offered at the same time as the DC4K program.

Topics include learning about what is happening to my family; facing my anger; how to deal with my sadness; who?s to blame; dealing with loneliness; talking to my parents; and moving on, growing up and growing closer to God.

Parent/Child Class @ Prairie Walls Climbing Gym
Learning to rock climb with your children is a great family activity. In climbing, the challenges and rewards are essentially the same for children and adults, creating a unique family experience. In this two-hour introductory climbing class parents and children 12 and older will learn the basic safety skills required for climbing at Prairie Walls. Including how to put on a climbing harness, tie the rope into the harness, safety checks, top rope belaying, basic vertical movement and bouldering. You learn by doing and we will have you on the wall in no time. Children 11 and under will climb while the parents belay them. Upon successful completion of this class parents and children 12 and older will have the skills required to climb at Prairie Walls on your own. Saturdays 2:00 to 4:00. Tuesdays 6:00 to 8:00. $35.00 for each adult or child 12 and older. $18.00 per child 11 years and younger. The price includes all required rental equipment. Each participant receives a coupon for a free day pass, valid within two weeks of completing the class. With the instructors approval you may stay and climb after class.
