Personal trainers for the brain, committed to enhancing lives worldwide.
The human brain is alive and active. It continually grows, changes, and adapts to the outside world. Day after day, information is taken in through the senses and processed, and we learn, remember, and find meaning in the world around us. But if a person’s ability to process information is weak, their ability to learn and understand is severely impaired. Grades fall, paying attention becomes difficult, and discouragement sets in. Making mistakes or saying “I don’t know” becomes a way of life. Since the early 1980’s, finding a solution to this problem has been the drive and vision of LearningRx. We know that processing and understanding information is crucial to learning. The brain’s cognitive skills (the parts of the brain that do the processing) must be strong in order for effective learning to take place. Just like a personal trainer at the gym guides you as you strengthen your muscles, our trainers and programs revive and strengthen cognitive skills while encouraging and challenging the student. The result is that learning, remembering, paying attention and comprehension are improved – and the student’s potential to learn is unlocked. When that happens, the student’s future is opened to a whole new world where learning, reading, and performance are not only possible, but easy and enjoyable.

What Are Cognitive Skills?
Think of cognitive skills as muscles. Imagine your arm muscles are so weak that you can’t lift anything heavier than three pounds. In this scenario, even the simplest tasks would be hard for you. If you went to the grocery store, you couldn’t even carry your bags into the house! You would wind up taking many trips back and forth from your house to your car, carrying one item at a time. What a pain! If your muscles were stronger, you could do it all in one trip.

This is the experience of a person with weak cognitive skills. If your cognitive skills can’t do their job, every task associated with learning becomes a painful struggle, and the desire to learn slows down or even stops entirely.
