Honkers games are fun, family-friendly events. The Honkers play in the Northwoods League - a summer baseball league comprised of teams of top college players from the Midwest and across the nation. All home games are played at Mayo Field. Haven't been to a game? You've got to go. There's Slider (the baseball-headed mascot), free giveaways (provided by sponsors at many games), fun between-inning activities, and of course baseball. Grandstand tickets are $5/adults, $4/children 12 and under and seniors 60 and older. The Honkers’ are the sponsors of this week’s ROCHESTERfamilies.com Great Giveaway - a Honkers Bonus Book of 10 adult game tickets. (Yeah! Free tickets to Honkers games!) A Million Thanks card drive - you’ve seen the commercials encouraging kids to make cards for our service men and women. Drop your cards off at Viking Buick Pontiac GMC Nissan now through the end of the month. Visit the Summer Camps webpage to find sample letters as well as the rules to follow when creating your card (such as don’t use glitter and don’t attach candy). Movies Under the Stars @ History Center of Olmsted County - the history center will show eight classic movies (including the Pink Panther, Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Star Wars Episode IV) outside on the big screen. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets and snacks and enjoy! ORCAS - is holding registration for summer swim lessons. Lessons are available for kids ages 3 and up. Register this weekend, in-person, for these very popular classes. National Night Out - register your annual block party and be part of the fun nationwide anti-crime party. Avalache Ranch VBS - Salem Road Covenant Church is hosting VBS for kids ages 3 through 5th grade. Middle School Prep programs - Friedell if offering a middle school prep program June 11 - 15 and Willow Creek is offering theirs June 11 - 22. The prep program offers enrichment courses and review classes for improving learning skills and also offers an orientation for incoming sixth graders. If your organization is hosting a Summer Camp for area youth email the details (text version only, no attachments please) to lindy@rochesterfamilies.com. Details should include the basic facts (date, time, location, registration criteria). Because of the high volume of submissions we are sure to receive, write-ups that are brief and are easy to cut and paste onto the website are much appreciated.
